About Us

Thank you for stopping by our blog!  We are the two teachers of We Heart Being First!  As co-workers, we have always had a passion for creating new materials to use in our classrooms.  Once we discovered TPT and all the wonderful teacher blogs, we were hooked! We became inspired to share our own ideas.  We are both super excited and thankful for this opportunity to share our creations.  We hope you find something useful to take back to your classroom.

Meet Gina Doran

Hi!  I have been teaching for 24 years. I spent my first five years as a third grade teacher and all the rest in first. I am right where I always wanted to be. I ❤️ First Graders!! I have lived in Alabama most all of my life. I married my high school sweetheart and we have been married for 30 wonderful years. We have one fabulous  son, one beautiful daughter-in-law and one BRILLIANT, ADORABLE, CUDDLY and AMAZING  grandson who is almost 2. My husband is part of a family business that builds and installs awnings of all kinds and many are on SCHOOLS! My son works for United Launch Alliance (ULA) where he helps build the rockets that keep us and the MILITARY finding our way through the world by providing the machine that puts GPS satellites in space. As parents we couldn't be more proud. We are all lovers of sun and water so if we are not working we are trying to find our way to a beach or the river. And I HATE winter unless we get a big snow of course, which almost NEVER happens here.  When I moved to first grade I had no idea I would be working with someone who would not only become my closest friend but a co-owner of a business with me. She is the creative one behind everything we do. I honestly don't know how anyone runs a TPT business alone. We each have our roles and it works very well. We have a bazillion ideas on our TO DO list so we hope you find our blog and store helpful. 

Meet Linda Wimberley

Hi! I have taught 1^st grade teacher for 26 years.  It’s the only grade that I’ve ever taught.   I currently live in Alabama and there is no place I’d rather call home…well, except somewhere with sand, sun, and waves!!  Maybe one day!  I have been married to a wonderful man for 26 years.  We raised three beautiful children that grew up way too fast.  We are officially empty nesters!  It’s really strange.  And quiet.  

Our youngest son graduated from Auburn University and is now working in Atlanta, GA.  He met his wife at Auburn and have been married 2 years.

Our oldest son and his wife live in Birmingham and made us proud grandparents of our first and third granddaughter!!  

Our daughter is living in Hartselle, Alabama and gave us granddaughter number 2!    

Papa and Nana have never been so proud and so in awe of our beautiful granddaughters.  Life just doesn’t get better than this!
